You can watch the Midnight Sun in a skybar, cocktail in hand, or go for a long walk in search of solitude. \n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Bod\u00f8 is\nfound inside the Arctic Circle, and enjoys the rays of the Midnight Sun from\nthe 31<sup>st<\/sup> of May to the 12<sup>th<\/sup> of July. This modern and\nlively city actually sports the Midnight Sun in its coat of arms, and the view\nof the Midnight Sun over the open sea near the island of Landegode is a classic\nview. However, there are many ways of spotting the Midnight Sun in Bod\u00f8,\ndepending on your mood and shape. Here you can have something fun and festive in your glass, wear\nsmart clothes that don\u2019t itch and converse with the locals, just like in any\ncity at night. The only difference is a striking one; it\u2019s daylight outside and\nyou see the Midnight Sun! Go out on the deck a few minutes past one, when the\nsun is at its lowest, and seal the moment with a toast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">360 degrees of beauty make\nyour jaw drop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The port\nwith the sailboats is a bit reminiscent of Saint-Tropez, but the view to the\nislands could only be in Northern Norway. The steep cliffs of the Fugl\u00f8ya\nIsland to the southwest, the lighthouse island of Landego to the north and the\nchain of the Lofoten Islands afar, like a faint shadow, in the evening light. Turn\nyour head, and see the elegant pinnacles of the B\u00f8rvasstindan range rise above\nthe fjord. The Bestefarvarden is very low at 137 metres, and\nis very close to the sea. Another easy option is \u201cLinken\u201d, a tv tower on the\nwestern end of the R\u00f8nvikfjellet hillside. The most commanding view, though, is\nthe Keiservarden, at 366 metres, showing the geography like an Atlas of\nNorthern Norway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mjelle is the Midnight Sun\nbeach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach\nat Mjelle is a dream-like sandy beach with a view to die for. The coast is wild,\nunsettled and uninhabited under the Mjelletind mountain, with a steep drop\ntowards the sea. Just offshore, there is a chain of small islets as well as the\nbigger island of Landego. Afar you see the Lofoten Islands unobstructed. A\nmarked trail goes through the landscape, taking you into the lush forest as\nwell as onto the beach itself. This hike goes along a little peninsula just south of Mjelle. The\nterrain is varied, but never too strenuous. At the tip of the peninsula, you\nlook down on a small island connected with the mainland through a small, yet\nshining white sandspit that makes the cutest little beach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The epic mountain hikes\nare best at midnight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bod\u00f8 is\nsurrounded by majestic mountains, and the intrepid mountain hiker should use\nthe chance when the sun is out to climb those hard hikes in the immediate\nsurroundings of Bod\u00f8. The B\u00f8rvasstindan chain towers majestically above the\nSaltfjord, clearly visible to the southeast from Bod\u00f8. They are all more than\n1000 metres, and are suited for seasoned hikers . The characteristic block of\nSteigtinden north of Bod\u00f8 is 793 metres high, the Mjelletinden nearby is 730\nmetres, and both are relatively demanding. The Finnkonnakken at 518 metres is\ndefinitely easier, and recommended for less experienced hikers in reasonable\nshape.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be sleepless in Kjerring\u00f8y<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kjerring\u00f8y\nis one of the Bod\u00f8-ites favourite excursions. The old trade centre with its\npicturesque wooden houses overlooks the Vestfjord, and afar you see the Lofoten\nIslands. In sunny evenings, the locals come by boat from Bod\u00f8, there is laughter\nin the air and the atmosphere is light and lively. The summers are too short to\nsleep away. If you\u2019re lucky, somebody with a boat invites you along on a\nbeautiful summer\u2019s evening. If you have a car, you could just drive there.\nProblem is, there is a ferry crossing involved, and the ferry doesn\u2019t run\nbetween midnight and 6pm. From hole 3 you see straight out to the Midnight Sun, rising above a\ncluster of skerries and islets just north east of Landego, with the Lofoten\nwall in the far distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do you leave Bod\u00f8 in\nstyle?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our final\npiece of advice for viewing the Midnight Sun in Bod\u00f8 is actually to leave Bod\u00f8!\nLofoten, the chain of islands northwest of Bod\u00f8, is a target for many\ntravellers. The most used ferry is the one from Bod\u00f8 to Moskenes, and it has a\ndeparture at 22:30 in the evening most weekdays in the school holiday (should\nbe double-checked, though\u2026).
