Some areas of Lyngenfjord are bone dry, and among the driest in all of Northern Scandinavia
The Lyngen Alps create a rain shadow effect, making some of the areas around the southern and eastern side of the Lyngen Fjord the driest in the country. The same goes for some inland valleys in the area.
